The year was 2000 – as we celebrated the new millennium –
hope reigned supreme!
Y2k was Y2 nothing, Napster was free and the Internet brought us
endless hook ups, I’m mean, possibilities via Craig’s
list. Life was good, really good.
Living in San Francisco, filmmaker Lani Williams and her friends
had about 20 seconds left in their ambiguous, yet insanely well
paying dot.com jobs …but who cared? Anything was possible!
Despite our happiness – our families (mothers) were confused
…
What is wrong with my son/daughter? Why do I not have grandkids?
What is a URL? Should we be worried?
If for no other reason than to show her own mother that there were
others “just like her”, Lani began Singleminded.
It’s now 2005 and Napster is no longer free, sites like E-Harmony.com
have “morman-ized” the fun out of online dating and
Sex and the City are all reruns …
But that doesn’t mean we’ve all settled down and moved
to the burbs. (Ewww, shudder!)
In addition, Lani has done the unthinkable! Yes, it’s true
… she moved to New York.
In this final leg of her film Lani checks in with her peers –
has a Lychee Martini and once again gives a voice to her still single
“peeps”.
